Princess Of Asia® Pageant FAQ: who can compete?
If you are wondering whether “someone like her” belongs here, you are not alone. Princess Of Asia® Pageant welcomes girls and young women who want to grow through competition, culture, and community—and who are ready, with family support, to be seen. The Minnesota Live Pageant is a judged, in-person event with divisions from Little through Ms. Queen. Candidates who live in Minnesota generally compete on that live stage. If you live elsewhere in the United States, you can pursue an Appointed State Title instead of the Minnesota live track and still aim for Nationals. Exact eligibility, residency, and division rules are published each season when registration opens—please confirm the current forms before you apply, so the path you choose fits her age and your family’s comfort.
What ages are the divisions?
We group candidates so she competes with peers at a similar stage—not against a room that feels too old or too young. In recent seasons, divisions have spanned Little (about ages 4–6) through older teen and Ms. Queen categories. Birthday cutoffs and division names can shift slightly year to year to keep the field fair. When and where is the Minnesota Pageant 2027?

What are the required competitions?
Required competitions are the scored areas every Minnesota Live contestant prepares for in the main pageant. What are optional competitions?
Optional competitions (often called “optionals”) sit beside the main pageant. They are not required for the overall title. You get to choose how much stage time feels right for her—and for your calendar and budget—subject to entry limits and deadlines. Optionals give candidates extra chances to shine in areas that match their personality: additional performance, modeling, or specialty categories announced for the season. They have their own registration path and fees. If you are new, many families start with the main competition first, then add optionals once they see how she feels after that first brave step.
What is a Royal Escort?
A Royal Escort is a young man paired with a titleholder for formal onstage moments—especially evening gown and crowning. For many families, that partnership makes the ceremony feel complete: she is not alone up there, and he learns confidence, etiquette, and stage presence in a structured, respectful role. Escort spots are limited each year, so early registration matters. Escorts are not judged as pageant contestants the way title seekers are; their role is ceremonial and supportive, with clear expectations shared during registration and rehearsal.
Minnesota Live Pageant vs Appointed State Titles — what’s the difference?
There are two main pathways into the Princess Of Asia® National Convention experience—and both honor a young woman’s willingness to represent something larger than herself. Pathway 1 — Minnesota Live Pageant: candidates compete in person in February at Mall of America. Placement is competitive; nobody can promise who wins, and that live outcome is the point. Titleholders earn crown and title, and winners receive award support tied to Nationals as announced for the season. Pathway 2 — Appointed State Titles: candidates outside the Minnesota live track apply through an online review process to represent their state. Appointed titleholders are selected through that application path rather than the February Minnesota stage. Both pathways are designed to bring strong representatives to the National Convention—not to create two unrelated brands.

What is the National Convention 2027?
Summer 2027 marks the inaugural Princess Of Asia® National Convention in Minneapolis. Minnesota’s live winners and Appointed State Titleholders come together for a multi-day gathering of workshops, competition, connection, and celebration—girls and young women who have already taken a public step, meeting peers who understand what that felt like. It is the national “next step” after state-level representation, whether that representation was earned on the Minnesota stage or through appointment. How do I apply for an Appointed State Title?

Then submit the Appointed Title Application with the materials requested for the current cycle (essays, photos, and any other items listed on the form). Applications are reviewed by the program; selection is not the same as winning a live Minnesota placement—and that difference is intentional.
